Ella is a small hill town in the Central Highlands with a relaxed vibe, and is popular with backpackers. Most visitors come to Ella for the hiking, the most famous trails being Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock which can be done independently and directly from the town. The views up here are simply breath-taking, and well worth the effort. The iconic Demodara Nine Arch Bridge is also just a short walk from Ella, and you can either stroll over it, or just wait at the cafe for a train to trundle across for those all-important holiday snaps. If you still have time and energy to spare, there are plenty to waterfalls to discover, and tea factories to visit where you can learn about planting, production and of course tasting.
