Unguja Lodge is a small, owner-run lodge in Kizimkazi on the southern tip of Zanzibar. Accommodation is in twelve, self-contained villas, beautifully decorated in the traditional Zanzibari style and surrounded by mango and baobab trees.
Unguja Lodge has seven Sea View Villas, three Baobab Villas and two Family Houses, each with direct sea views and a private terrace overlooking the Menai Bay. The three Baobab Villas face the beautiful gardens and have their own plunge pools. Each villa has a spacious bedroom, a baraza-style sitting room, a large bathroom and an upstairs landing. The restaurant serves simple, fresh food, all made from scratch, and can cater to gluten-free and dairy-free diets.
Unguja Lodge also has a large swimming pool, a cocktail bar and is home to the PADI 5-star dive centre ‘One Ocean’ which runs the resort’s snorkelling and diving activities. Guests can also enjoy dhow trips to the Menai conservation area; a walk along the short nature trail to the small beach, or go on a guided village tour. Private barbecue lunches on a small deserted island are also available.
