Just six villas make a perfect setting for a personal holiday

Surrounded by coconut palms and white, sandy beaches with all the comforts a modern tourist needs

Location: Set along the pristine southeast coastline of Zanzibar Island, The Palms overlooks white sands and turquoise sea. It’s a peaceful and exclusive setting, ideal for couples or honeymooners looking to escape the crowds. The beach here is one of the island’s finest, with warm, swimmable waters and breath taking sunrises.

Rooms: There are just six villas, each beautifully styled with polished wooden floors, silk-draped furnishings and a mix of colonial and traditional design. Each villa includes a private plunge pool, a large veranda with day bed, and sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. Interiors feel indulgent but understated, and the focus is firmly on comfort and seclusion.

Amenities: Guests enjoy personalised service, a refined beachfront restaurant serving Zanzibari-inspired cuisine, and access to sister property facilities nearby. The Sanctuary Spa offers a menu of relaxing treatments and therapies, and the peaceful grounds provide ample space to unwind.

Activities: The Water Club offers water sports including windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing. For divers, the on-site Rising Sun Dive Centre is PADI certified and offers excellent diving around the coral reefs. The hotel can also help arrange excursions further afield, including cultural and spice tours.

Sustainability: The Palms operates with a strong commitment to low-impact, eco-sensitive hospitality. Local staff, produce and suppliers are used wherever possible, while initiatives are in place to reduce plastic and preserve Zanzibar’s natural heritage.

In March Zanzibar experiences a period of long rains - showers become more frequent and it can be very wet from the middle of March.

April

The long rains make April a mixed month to travel, as beaches along the Indian Coastline become very hot and wet. Activities like scuba diving take a turn, with water clarity decreasing due to the weather. We would recommend not travelling during this time.

May

Temperatures during May are high, with strong winds and continual rainfall. If you travel during this time you won't witness the best of Zanzibar.

June

June, the wet season is finally over, temperatures are cooler making it a beautiful time to lounge on the beach or explore the culturally rich Stone Town. Sporadic rainfall may occur across the month.

July

Dry season is in full swing, with consistent weather over this period with little wind and low rainfall. Diving is good during July with clarity levels increasing.

November brings the arrival of the summer rains and winds, but if you're a keen fisherman, billfish season kicks off. Otherwise, it is the best time to swim with the mighty whale shark and to go coral reef diving.
