A remote and unspoilt escape, where hippos, wildlife and wilderness take centre stage.
Location: Luambe Camp is the only safari lodge in Luambe National Park, a small and little-visited gem tucked between South and North Luangwa. This is one of the most secluded safari experiences in Zambia – no crowds, no vehicles, just unfiltered wilderness and complete tranquillity.
Rooms: There are four spacious safari tents set along the Luangwa River, each designed for comfort in the bush. The tents have high ceilings and a clever double-layered roof to keep them cool in the heat of the day. Each has a private veranda overlooking a large resident hippo pod, expect to be lulled by their grunts and snorts as you fall asleep or wake to their morning calls.
Amenities: Meals are hearty and home-cooked, served either under thatch or out on the riverbank beneath the stars. After dinner, guests gather around the campfire, swapping stories and enjoying the peace of this remote location.
Activities: Luambe is all about walking safaris, led by expert guides. You’ll track wildlife on foot through riverine woodland and open plains. Game drives to the remote Chipuka Plains are also offered, where it’s just you, your guide, and the wildlife.
Sustainability: With no other lodges in the park, Luambe operates with a deep commitment to conservation and community, keeping its footprint light and its focus firmly on preserving the park’s unique biodiversity.
