just 4km from Victoria Falls
We love Maramba because there is a large variety of styles (and budgets) to suit most people and the location is great!
Ideally located just 4km from Victoria Falls and just outside of Livingstone, Zambia, Maramba River Lodge provides an attractive all-year-round accommodation base in a shaded woodland setting. The Lodge is on a bluff overlooking the Maramba River, and is often visited by the resident wildlife with elephant wandering through the grounds at certain times of the year. Regardless of your room category, families can enjoy the swimming pool and children’s play area with a jungle gym, trampoline, large chess and drafts board, and snakes & ladders.
They have 6 Luxury Safari Tents which provide all the comforts of a lodge without sacrificing the pleasures of a camping experience. Each tent is individually decorated to a theme with handcrafted furniture. The en-suite bathroom is tiled throughout with a shower open to the African sky.
Maramba’s 9 Private Chalets are spacious, airy and nestled under mopane and mahogany trees. All rustic, thatched chalets have creative mukwa and wrought iron fittings, en-suite tiled bathrooms, mosquito proofing with treated nets, ceiling fans and views over the Maramba River or floodlit waterhole. The chalets are available in twins, doubles and family units that sleep 4.
The 10 Safari Tents offer en-suite bathrooms and mosquito nets all under thatch. These small, yet fully furnished tents offer the perfect compromise between camping and room facilities.
For the more adventurous or budget traveller, the Dome Tent area named ‘The River Camp’ is perfect; set on the bank of the Maramba River they have five 3m² walk-in tents fitted with two full size single beds, bedside lamp and a lockable drawer. They have a dedicated ablution block with covered sitting area with views over the Maramba River. Ideal for groups, these tents can also be booked on an individual basis.
Activities from Maramba include everything Vic Falls related! For local or regional activities, they have an activities desk manned from 07h00 to 19h00 by a highly qualified and experienced member of staff. The list of things to do is extensive, so whether you stay here for just a couple of nights or much longer, you'll find plenty to fill your days. The camp is ideally located to see the early steam engines in the Railway Museum, which helped establish Livingstone as a city. Try abseiling, high wiring, rap jumping or gorge swinging in the incredible chasm of the ancient falls. Meet Chief Mukuni in his village, discover the traditions and savour the culture of a truly Zambian way of life. Or feel the awesome power of the river with the absolute thrill of river boarding through the white waters of the Zambezi.
