Mfangano Island Camp is an oasis of tranquillity, an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Mfangano Island Camp is a luxury, island hideaway lodge, where you can enjoy relaxing break, perfect to include at either end of your Kenyan Safari. Your first view is of beautiful tropical gardens set on a secluded bay. Enormous boulders sit at the water’s edge, a perch for cormorants or giant monitor lizards to sun themselves.
Mfangano Island Camp has six double-bedded cottages right on the lake shore. Each room has been built in the Luo tribal style, with banana thatch and natural clay. The rooms are light and airy with four-poster beds, from where you have almost a 360 degree view of Lake Victoria, similar to the dining and lounge area, where you can sit and enjoy the life as it goes by.
With no vehicles, and transport is via colourful local canoes. It offers a perfect place to relax and unwind. Activities on the island include; sailing on traditional lateen rig sailing boats, fishing, mountain biking or village walks – or just enjoy the tranquillity with a good book and a nice cold drink.
