Governors Private Camp

Hidden away away on the banks of the Mara River, Governors' Private Camp is perfect for groups looking for exclusivity, peace and privacy in the heart of Kenya's beautiful Masai Mara. The camp can only be booked by one family or group at a time so you don't have to share it with anyone else. It's a stunning spot, where animals come down to the river to drink, cavort, and if you're a hippo, laze about in the shallows. Elephants are often seen here, playing and bathing in family groups. The forest surrounding the camp is full of birdlife too, with everything from nesting hornbills to rare Trogans.

The eight large and comfortable tents sit on wooden platforms with spacious verandahs and forest and river views. Inside the tents you'll find handmade furniture, electric lighting and charging facilities, and an ensuite bathroom with a flush-toilet as well as hot and cold running water. You may be camping but you certainly won't be roughing it. The central dining, bar and mess tents are a great place to congregate before dinner to chat about all the adventures you'll have had that day, all whilst overlooking the Mara River. Food here is scrumptious, and some would even call the desserts "sinful". All drinks (except champagne) are included.

Service here is personal and friendly, and out on safari, whether that's in a vehicle, on foot, or even in a hot air balloon, the guides and trackers are at the top of their game, with superb knowledge of the Reserve.
