Tumaren camp offers a permanent base from which to explore on a camel safari
Situated at the eastern periphery of a wide plain, Tumaren looks westward toward a series of granitic kopjes that define eastern Laikipia. In the foreground, you might expect to see Giraffe or other plains game that seek the safety of the open grassland. Part of the Karisia Walking Safaris collection, Tumaren camp offers a permanent base from which to explore the beautiful Karisia Hills in Laikipia for those wishing to remain in the same location each night.
The four spacious canvas tents are colourfully decorated and fitted with luxury bedding, dressing gowns, headlamps, solar lights, and a private en-suite shower and toilet. Two of the tents have both a double and single bed, and the family tent has a double and two single beds with a divider set up between the rooms.
Each day you will set out after breakfast for a few hours walk in search of game and exploring the area. The camp has both riding camels and land cruisers available for you to decide what kind of safari activities you want to do each morning and afternoon. Along the way you will be looking for eland, steinbuck, giraffe, waterbuck, grevy's zebra. You will also be looking from high open points for elephants. After a refreshing lunch and short rest, you will continue a short walk looking for game and getting a feel for the country before returning to your camp in time for your evening's dinner.
