Camp Savuti

Camp Savuti is situated on the Savuti Channel in northern Botswana. The camp is built about 17 kilometres 'downstream' from the source of the Savuti, in an ever-changing landscape. The Savuti Channel has been dry for many decades but very recently in 2008, the Savute Channel once more became a deep, clear waterway harbouring hippo and aquatic life with myriad varieties of waterbirds. The Savute area harbours one of the densest dry-season concentrations of elephant in Africa

Savuti Camp is a comfortable camp providing accommodation in five twin bedded tents of which 3 can be converted into king size beds on request. All tents are fan-cooled and on raised decks with views onto the Savuti Channel. Each is en-suite, with outside showers. Soaps, shampoos and insect repellents are supplied in each room. The camp has a thatched dining area, bar and plunge pool, all on raised wooden decks. There is also a curio shop and a boma area. There is a waterhole close to camp, attracting large numbers of game that guests can view from the camp.

Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4-wheel drive Land Rovers, hides (including a woodpile hide located at the waterhole in front of the camp). Catch sight of nocturnal creatures on a night drive along the Savute Channel. Enjoy walking safaris with an armed guide or seasonal catch-and-release fishing. Wildlife in the area is populous; this is one of the best areas in the country to see predators. This also means that there are good concentrations of plains animals in the area.
