Easter Island

Resting within the vastness of the Pacific Coast lies Easter Island, also known as Rapa Nui—a jewel-like speck of volcanic rock.

This remote and isolated paradise has earned its fame for its captivating landscapes and the awe-inspiring presence of the majestic monolithic statues scattered across its terrain. Carved meticulously from volcanic rock, these remarkable works of art, stand at an average height of four metres and weigh a staggering fourteen tonnes. Although the true purpose of these fascinating statues remains shrouded in mystery, their silent watch over the island creates an evocative and mesmerising panorama, which has captivated visitors for centuries.

With over 900 of these remarkable sculptures protruding from the land, the areas they inhabit have been designated as a National Park and World Heritage Site, dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Rapa Nui Culture. Cut off from the rest of the world, the island's inhabitants forged their own unique religion, music, and dance, which continue to thrive to this day. The Rapa Nui people are also renowned for possessing the only written language throughout Polynesia, known as rongo rongo—a fascinating script that still baffles outsiders. A visit to the quarry at Rano Raraku, where most of the Moai were sourced and sculpted, provides a glimpse into the monumental engineering effort behind each and every sculpture.

Despite its lack of trees, the island's expansive vistas, adorned with lush rolling hills, and volcanic craters, and fringed by untamed white sand beaches, exude an enchanting allure.
