Location
One of late entrants in the heritage hotel movement in Rajasthan, Bhainsrorgarh Fort has over the past 11 years created a new circuit in on a road less travelled. It was known to very few people and traditionally only a handful of open minded and discerning travellers ventured into this unseen part of Rajasthan. But now it has emerged as one of the best experiences a tourist could have between two major routes: Jaipur to Udaipur via Bundi and also Ranthambore to Udaipur.
Activities
Ideally two nights or three nights would give a traveller the perfect opportunity to explore this destination. Activities can include a boat ride on the tranquil water of the Chambal; a drive to the tribal villages; visiting the beautifully carved 9th century Badoli Temples; birding at various water bodies; picnics at a lake; or just spending time on the Fort terrace enjoying the splendid views of the Chambal and Bamni Rivers. In addition to all these I also recommend one unique activity which you can’t experience anywhere else in Rajasthan, and that’s the Chambal River Safari by a Motor Boat.
We take you in a motorized boat to the most hidden part of this area where the Chambal River is flowing between two mountain ranges. There is no sign of humans and you are in the lap of pristine nature with only the sound of birds and wildlife. You will get to see crocodiles in good numbers too. Sipping a hot cup of coffee/tea followed by breakfast sitting on the rock on the banks of the Aeru River adds another dimension to your experience. This is the place where the Aeru River joins the clear waters of the Chambal River. On one side is the Mukundarrah Hills Tiger Reserve & National Park and on the other is the forest of the Jawahar Sagar Game Sanctuary.
In addition to all the activities and excursions our food is a highlight, and the cuisine of Bhainsrorgarh is well known. In the good old days this pristine area was used for hunting expeditions and afterwards friends and families would gather together here to eat after all the excitements. At Bhainsrorgarh we continue this tradition of hospitality and serve the best food to our guests. Although it is difficult to choose from the long list of these traditional recipes which are all very close to my heart, one unique dish that is always popular is the Hari Mirch Ka Maas (Goat Meat Curry with Green Chillies).
