The MaldivesIndian Ocean· 33 Rooms · £££

COMO Cocoa Island offers a chic, minimalist escape that feels deeply connected to nature.

Snorkel straight from your deck, practise yoga at sunrise, or unwind with world-class COMO Shambhala wellness treatments.

Location
Only a 40-minute speedboat ride from Malé, the gateway to the Maldives, COMO Cocoa Island sits in a private lagoon surrounded by clear waters and thriving reefs. Its intimate size gives it a true castaway feel, while the easy access makes it perfect for both short getaways and longer stays.

Rooms
The 33 overwater villas are inspired by traditional Maldivian dhonis (wooden fishing boats), giving them a distinctive, elegant character. Interiors are light and calming, with whitewashed tones, floor-to-ceiling windows, and direct access to the lagoon. Each villa feels private yet close to the island’s heart.

Amenities
The resort’s COMO Shambhala Retreat is a highlight, with a full menu of holistic therapies, open-air yoga, and a focus on wellbeing. There’s also a freshwater infinity pool, a boutique, and exquisite dining that blends Maldivian seafood with healthy COMO Shambhala cuisine. Guests love the personalised service, where every detail feels quietly taken care of.

Activities
Snorkelling here is spectacular, with vibrant reefs just steps from your villa and the chance to spot reef sharks, turtles, and rays. Diving is equally rewarding, with access to some of the best sites in South Malé Atoll. You can also enjoy private boat trips, fishing, or simply kayaking in the lagoon. For slower days, yoga at sunrise or a spa ritual at sunset is just as memorable.

Sustainability
COMO Cocoa Island runs strong marine conservation programmes, including coral propagation and reef monitoring. The resort reduces single-use plastics, supports local suppliers, and follows eco-conscious practices across its operations. Sustainability is built into the COMO philosophy, making your stay as mindful as it is luxurious.

February

March

March experiences high temperatures and low humidity levels, making it the perfect time for a beach holiday.

April

April is another great month to travel, with sunny, warm days. During the end of the month there is an increased risk of rain.

May

Temperatures in May remain warm with long periods of sunshine, but with the start of the South West Monsoon season rains and storms are likely. The unsettled weather, means there is lower visibility, so diving and snorkelling isn't as good as previous months.

June

July

The South West Monsoon season continues into July, meaning rains are probable despite the warm sunny days.

August

Weather remains the same in August, and the lower prices and attractive offers make it a great time to visit.

September

Weather remains the same in September, and the lower prices and attractive offers make it a great time to visit.

October

As with preceding months, warm temperatures and sunshine are balanced with increased rain showers and storms. During October is a great time to spot whale sharks and manta rays as they come to feed on the increased plankton in the Indian Ocean.

November

As with preceding months, warm temperatures and sunshine are balanced with increased rain showers and storms. During November is a great time to spot whale sharks and manta rays.

December

Early December can present good value for money before the festive peak, as with previous months the weather can be unpredictable with increasing storms and rain showers.
