This small, intimate resort has a real emphasis on bespoke guest experiences and knows how to do this after over 40 years.
Location
Just a 25-minute speedboat ride from Male International Airport you will be on the beach in no time at all. Baros has been welcoming guests since 1973 and have spent decades honing their services and cultivating the environment, crafting what we believe is a legendary resort. Today, they're one of the most loved Maldives resorts.
Rooms
There are Seven different villas and suites ranging from Deluxe Villas to the Baros Residence. All villas are secluded in palm-shaded glades by a white sandy beach or perched over-water with private sun deck. Many of the elegant, sandstone and timber, palm-thatched villas have their own plunge pool, and some have a Jacuzzi pool too.
Amenities
Every villa is private, has an espresso machine and a wine and mini-bar; in-villa entertainment includes a flat-screen TV and iPod dock. Guests can pamper themselves at the Spa or take a dip in the overwater infinity pool.
A Villa Host is on call around the clock providing a discreet, personalised service making every stay hassle-free.
Three restaurants cater for fine dining, sea-food and Asian delicacies and private dining can be arranged in-villa, on an isolated sandbank or on a deck over the lagoon. The Sails Bar serves drinks all day under the palms and there is a sea-view evening cocktail and cigar lounge.
Activities
Step aboard a dhoni for a dinner cruise for two, head to the Piano Deck with your own private chef, for an exclusive gourmet meal, or settle in at The Lighthouse to watch the sunset with cocktails and canapés, have a drink at the famous Sails Bar. At these gourmet Restaurants in Baros, every meal is yours to savour, every bite designed to inspire. From lavish buffet breakfasts by the pool to fine dining at the legendary Lighthouse, every meal is another opportunity for you to relish a favourite or try something more daring.
The resort has both an EcoDive and a Marine Centre. Water sports and yoga are available; the resort also has a library lounge and free in-room WiFi.
Sustainability
Beyond sustainable practices like water recycling for gardens, energy-efficient LED lighting, the heart of Baros’s efforts lies in its marine conservation programmes. Guests can take part in coral transplantation through sponsorship of coral frames and cubes, and the resort employs eco-friendly coral-restoration techniques using wooden frames and reusable moulds. The recently launched Marine Environment Hub enriches this further with engaging storytelling from the “Baros Underwater Ambassadors,” fostering awareness on reef etiquette, sustainable behaviours, and the reef’s interconnected ecosystem.
The watersports centre also takes part in the Coral Reef regeneration project.
