Australia's Aboriginal Heart
Witness the majesty of Uluru, an iconic landmark amidst the vast landscapes of the Red Centre
Set in Australia’s remote Red Centre, Uluru is one of the country’s most iconic and spiritual destinations. Rising dramatically from the desert plains, it’s a place of extraordinary beauty and deep cultural significance. A holiday here is about more than sightseeing – it’s about connecting with ancient landscapes, learning from the Anangu people, and experiencing the magic of the Outback under vast desert skies.
Uluru Adventures
Holidays to Uluru offer a deep connection to Australia’s ancient landscapes and indigenous culture. At the heart of it all is Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the red earth and endless sky make you feel like you are in another world.
Holidays to the Red Centre
A guided walk around the base of Uluru is a must, with the opportunity to gain insights into Anangu culture and the rock’s spiritual significance. Sunrise and sunset are especially magical, as the colours of Uluru shift from ochre to deep red and purple.
Nearby, Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) offers a striking contrast, a group of domed rock formations with incredible hiking trails like the Valley of the Winds walk, perfect for active explorers.
Luxury stays in the Red Centre
For something truly special, Longitude 131° is the ultimate place to stay. This luxury desert camp offers tented suites with views of Uluru from your bed, curated dining and personalised guided experiences. Alternatively, families in particular might prefer relaxing poolside at Sails in the Desert, a family-focused hotel resort a short distance from Uluru.
When to visit Uluru
The best time to visit Uluru is from April to October, when cooler temperatures make it ideal for exploring the landscapes and enjoying outdoor activities. In contrast, the summer months from December to February can be extremely hot, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C. Activities are still possible during this time, but they’re best enjoyed early or late in the day. If you’re heat-sensitive or travelling on a family holiday to Australia, it’s worth trying to avoid the peak summer months.
Holidays in the Outback
Whether you're after cultural discovery, Outback adventure or a moment of calm in the heart of the Northern Territory, Uluru remains an unavoidable and unforgettable stop on any Australia itinerary.
