Great Zimbabwe Hotel

Situated in a World Heritage Site just outside the Zimbabwean town of Masvingo, the Great Zimbabwe Hotel is a brilliant place to go to experience the history, archaeology and culture of the surrounding area. Close to the hotel is The Great Zimbabwe monument, which is believed to be at least 550 years old and adds a sense of mystery to this historical location. Children are welcome at this hotel and it is located approximately 30 kilometres away from Masvingo’s airport.

There are a variety of different rooms and suites available. In the main hotel, there are single rooms designed for lone travellers, or double rooms that contain either twin beds or one double bed. The suites are located in separate buildings close to the hotel to create a feeling of privacy, and they consist of standard suites, deluxe suites and family suites. No matter which option you choose, all of the rooms are spacious as well as modestly but comfortably decorated and contain a television, an en-suite bathroom and facilities for making teas and coffees. Main areas include a restaurant, a swimming pool, a beach volley ball area and curio shops.

Visiting the Great Zimbabwe Ruins is a fantastic activity. Once an ancient civilisation, Great Zimbabwe was once a wealthy, flourishing town inhabited by thousands of people between the 12^th and 15^th century. By the 16^th century, however, the settlement was deserted. No one knows what happened to its people. You can either walk around the ruins by yourself a book a guided tour with an experienced guide. The hotel has a swimming pool and a beach volley ball area that guests can use just two minutes’ walk from most of the rooms.
