What sets the island apart is the opportunity to be part of a unique chimpanzee habituation experience. This involves hiking with a guide to track the chimpanzees, fly-camping overnight near to where they are and viewing them in their natural habitat as they go about their routines. The island is a birder's heaven with an incredible variety of species in the sub-tropical rainforest. Guests can enjoy the expert knowledge from the highly skilled guides on nature walks, boating trips and wetland excursions. Why not have a go at fishing for the famous Nile perch, which can grow to record sizes in the lake.
Access is by light aircraft with Coastal Aviation and connects to Arusha in northern Tanzania and the Serengeti so can easily be added onto a Serengeti safari holiday. There are also flights to Kigali In Rwanda so the camp can also be combined with a Rwanda safari.
