Lake Manyara Serena Lodge overlooks the Great Rift Valley and the stunning Manyara soda lake.
On the edge of the lovely Lake Eyasi in the heart of the Great Rift Valley sits the very lovely Kisima Ngeda Camp. It is more of a sanctuary in the bush really as there is not much game to see, but an incredibly beautiful place to be for a few days. As the soda lake is seasonal, during the drier months there may be little water, but the upside of this is the soda which attracts some lovely bird life including many flamingos which turn the lake pink. Beyond the lake is the Rift Valley escarpment, rising high and leading to the Ngorongoro Crater. The camp itself is situated on the shore of the lake, among acacia and date palm vegetation and is part of a 200 acre family-owned farm. There are eight tents here, situated on wooden platforms and with thatched roofs. The accommodation is tented in a traditional style, simple but well appointed and very comfortable, with beautiful views across the lake.
For those interested in the ancient African culture guests have the opportunity to learn about the Hadzabe tribe, who are nomadic bushmen. These hunter-gatherers add a fascinating cultural aspect to the region and the chance to interact with the triibe and even go on a hunt with them. Learning more about their ancient traditions makes a stay at Kisima Ngeda really fascinating.
