Located within the Marakele National Park, Marataba is just 3.5 hours drive from Johannesburg. The reserve is a 23,000 hectare private concession at the foothills of the Waterberg Mountains. Marataba Safari Lodge is a simple extension of the natural environment beyond its walls – rich, bold, organic and patently magnificent. If you sit quietly for long enough, you can feel the energy of the countless people who have made this place home since the Stone Age.

Accommodation comprises of 15 canvas and stone tented suites, for up to 30 guests. All tastefully furnished and decorated with a contemporary twist. Whether sharing it or keeping it all to yourself, the interior is ample, and the attention to detail impeccable. The free-standing stone bath in each suite is a very good place to breathe in the moment, and reconnect.

Whether game drive, walking trail, sunset river excursion, or a private dinner for two, there is never enough time to exhaust the many ways there are to love this place. Bush walks and two game drives daily in a private vehicle with your FGASA qualified ranger, with game drive refreshments and snacks are all part of the adventure. Lie back and look up at the Milky Way and spot some shooting stars.
