The itinerary…

Day 1: London to Malawi

Fly overnight from London, via Johannesburg, to Lilongwe, Malawi’s capital city.

Day 2: Likoma Island

On arrival into Lilongwe International airport at about midday, connect to a small charter plane to Likoma Island airstrip. Rated by Condé Nast Magazine as one of the world’s 10 most romantic destinations, Kaya Mawa is located on the southwestern tip of Likoma Island in the middle of Lake Malawi, close to Mozambique. You’ll be met by a Kaya Maya guide who will transfer you to your luxurious stone and teak-framed thatched cottage with a private beach. All your meals and activities are included in the rate.

Just hours since you left home, you’re on an idyllic island covered with mango trees and ancient baobabs, and encircled by glorious sandy beaches and rocky coves.

Day 3-5: Underwater World Discovery!

Kaya Maya offers a full PADI dive school so, whether a novice or expert, enjoy some of the best freshwater scuba diving in the world. If diving isn’t your thing, try paddle boarding, kayaking, kitesurfing, water skiing and sailing. Walking or biking around the island is a great way to meet friendly locals and visit the cathedral, local school and lively market nearby. Or you can simply take advantage of the on-site spa to add a bit of pampering to your luxury stay!

Day 6: To Secluded Bays

After breakfast, take the 50-minute boat journey down the Mozambican coast to Nkwichi Lodge. The Nkwichi boat team will make your arrival incredibly special. With eight secluded beaches set on 4 km of Rift Valley coastline, Nkwichi is the perfect setting to discover a lost world; a fresh-water oasis. Virgin woodland, teeming with life, ancient rock formations and scattered, secluded bays by the dozen.

Each chalet, tucked away in the treeline, is unique. Individually designed and built, they deliver absolute luxury: 4-poster beds, rock-pool baths carved out of primordial boulder, and mesmerising views of the lake. All your meals and activities are included in the rate.

Day 7: Rift Valley shoreline

The crystal-clear freshwater of Africa’s most bio-diverse lake awaits you – explore secluded bays, untouched beaches, towering monoliths and an underwater world of wonder. Stand Up Paddle, canoe, or enjoy a sunset dhow cruise along the magical Rift Valley shoreline.

Day 8: Lake of Stars Bed Sleep-Out

Your last night in Mozambique is spent in the ultimate way to savour the unique and unforgettable experience of your time so far. Set on a deserted, virgin beach surrounded by breathtaking baobabs, or on a private rock island close to the shore with Fish Eagles soaring overhead, this is the perfect way to see the wonders of an African night-sky.

Day 9: Return to mainland

After breakfast enjoy the return boat journey to Likoma Island airstrip for your return flight to London, via Lilongwe and Johannesburg.

Arriving in the early hours of the morning, but with sun kissed skin and a smile on your face.
