A nice intimate luxury hotel, with a similar feel to the lodges found around the inland safari regions in Kenya. Kinondo Kwetu is located in the Kinondo and Gazi area of the South Coast of Kenya. Situated at the northern end of a lovely beach, Kinondo Kwetu is a relatively upmarket option which aims to provide the same kind of small lodge intimacy and quality that one finds at the better safari lodges in Kenya.
Guest accommodation is in a range of one and two storey bungalows, plus a larger building known as the Mama Taa with a further six bedrooms, for a maximum of 38 guests in total. The lodge is centred on a main building containing reception and lounge areas, leading out onto an open area with a small swimming pool and on down to a dining terrace down by the beach. There is also much larger swimming pool, with spa and watersports facilities alongside.
Activities include walking and mountain biking around the villages, remote beaches and mangrove forests of the area, plus snorkelling, paddle-boarding, body boarding, sailing and kayaking offshore, yoga and spa treatments at the lodge. Day trips further afield are available for excellent diving, snorkelling and swimming with dolphins in the Kisite Marine Reserve to the south. We are talking about the luxury of peace and quiet, with no pumping music at the pools, no noise from crowds at the bar, no jostling for space on the beach, no roaming trinket sellers. Kinondo Kwetu is a home, an ideal hideaway for honeymooners or a private wedding.
