See Lake Victoria a little differently, by cycling around Mfangano Island which falls just inside Kenya- meet the wildlife and stay in a luxury camp.
Run by Governors' Camp, the Mfangano Island Cycle Challenge is being held this year on the weekend of 20th and 21st October 2018, on Lake Victoria's beautiful Mfangano Island. This annual event is a great way to explore a different side of Africa, and makes a fun add-on to your safari holiday.
There are some fantastic cycling routes across the island that will suit both novices and experts - from the easy going path that circumnavigates the island, to the more technical single track that traverses the top of the island. All of which offer spectacular views across the lake and island, and take you from the quaint little villages in the south, to more wild scrub land on the northern side of the island.
On the trip we'll also plan to visit "Sacred Island" during one of the afternoons to hopefully catch a glimpse of the highly endangered spotted necked otters, as well as a plethora of birdlife.
Aside from cycling over the weekend, there will also be opportunities for speed boat rides, hiking, dhow rides and fishing. Not to forget of course relaxing in the luxurious pool and swimming in the lake itself.
Accommodation will be based out of the luxurious Mfangano Island Camp at discounted rates, a great reward for all your hard work cycling!
The food cooked up at the lodge by our expert team of chefs never disappoints, and evenings will be spent dining under the stars, over the lake on our beautiful jetty.
