Jack set off on his first safari to Tanzania. Let's find out how he got on....
“Northern Tanzania for my first safari, I knew from the off that this was going to be an amazing adventure. First stop Serengeti… I assumed we would fly in and transfer to the hotel, settle in and then head off to find some animals! The fact that we had to fly by the airstrip to clear it of Zebra suggested that the game viewing experience would start much sooner then I realised…”
“We were collected from the airstrip by our driver Sebastian from Kearsleys Travel and Tours. I must admit that I prefer freedom and flexibility when travelling and the thought of a driver felt quite restrictive…. How wrong I was! Sebastian was an asset worth his weight in gold!”
“From the moment we left the airstrip he was a walking, talking safari encyclopaedia, spotting animals, teaching us about them and ensuring that we arrived at our various accommodation as and when required – flexible, relaxed and totally stress free! We talked for hours and Sebastian became a good friend.”
“Everyone has heard of the Serengeti but when I heard about the lesser known areas such as the Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater I was a little dubious about what to expect. Let’s just say I was not disappointed.”
“Don’t get me wrong, the Serengeti was as awesome as I imagined but I didn’t realise that we would have such a remarkable experience in the other areas too.”
“I love wildlife and presumed that we would be spending all day searching for the Big Five, I didn't realise how many other animals/birds/insects we would experience. Simply things like watching a Dung Beetle working its way along the road sound insignificant compared to a lion, but really are fascinating.”
“There were so many highlights throughout the trip, but being surrounded by elephants in the Tarangire National Park was just awesome…. the silence as these majestic creatures wandered by is something that I will never forget.”
“As a first-time safari location, I think Northern Tanzania is hard to beat, we saw Lions, Leopards, Rhino, Elephant, Giraffe, Warthog and many, many more. I would go back to this amazing country time and time again, what an introduction to Africa.”
Sounds like you had an awesome time Jack!
