Built on a 62 acre privately owned tea and rubber estate, Rosyth Estate House is a secluded spot to unwind in rural Sri Lanka, whilst not being too far from many of the main cultural sights. This tranquil colonial planter's villa combines traditional Sri Lankan style and hospitality with the contemporary comfort that many of us seek on holiday. With views of tea plantations and tropical jungle as far as the eye can see, it really does feel like you're part of nature, and it's likely you'll even see monkeys such as langurs and red loris, as well as lots and lots of birdlife.
Dining at Rosyth Estate House is a delight, with locally sourced produce and organic offerings from their garden, to create a fusion menu, best enjoyed after a sundowner whilst chatting to other guests. If you've enjoyed the food, then ask the chef to give you a cooking lesson so you can recreate the deliciousness back at home. By day lounge by the pool, enjoy a massage or try out a complimentary yoga session.
If you're feeling a little more active, you can explore the neighbouring villages by bike or on foot, or discover the market and have a chat with the locals. Then of course there are several tea estates you can visit, with hiking trails through the lush green bushes, guided visits around factories and of course a tea tasting session. For children there are treasure hunts too!
