Kurumba Maldives

Offering luxury at great value, with a convenient location and superb facilities

Located in the North Malé Atoll

As the Maldives very first private island resort, Kurumba is proud of its heritage

Location
Kurumba holds a special place in the Maldives, being the country’s very first resort. Just a 10-minute speedboat ride from Malé, it’s wonderfully convenient yet feels worlds away, with white-sand beaches, palm-fringed gardens, and the lagoon’s signature shades of blue. It’s an easy choice for those who want the Maldivian island experience without long transfers.

Rooms
Accommodation ranges from cosy beachfront rooms to spacious villas with private pools. Interiors combine contemporary comfort with a relaxed island feel, using light woods, soft fabrics, and plenty of space to unwind. Whether you’re waking to the sound of the sea or enjoying a sunset drink on your terrace, every room makes you feel at home in paradise.

Amenities
What guests love about Kurumba is its variety. There are eight restaurants offering flavours from around the world, alongside lively bars and relaxed beach dining. A large pool overlooks the lagoon, while the spa offers soothing treatments in garden pavilions. Families are well catered for, with a kids’ club and plenty of space to play, making the resort as welcoming for couples as it is for those travelling with children.

Activities
The island offers everything from snorkelling right off the beach to diving with expert guides on nearby reefs. Kayaking, jet skiing, and paddleboarding are popular, while cultural evenings, live music, and Maldivian cooking classes add a local flavour. Sunset cruises and dolphin spotting are highlights, and for those who want to keep active, there are tennis courts and a well-equipped gym.

Sustainability
The resort works to reduce plastic waste, runs coral-planting projects, and supports local communities through education and training initiatives. Energy efficiency and careful water management are also part of daily operations, ensuring the beauty of the Maldives is preserved for generations to come.

January

January is one of the most popular times to visit the Maldives, with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures its great for a beach holiday - if you love snorkelling and diving the visibility is high thanks to the calm weather conditions.

February

Much like January, temperatures in February stay at a steady 30 degrees, the combination of beautiful weather conditions and good watersports making it a great time to visit, especially if you love sea life.

March

March experiences high temperatures and low humidity levels, making it the perfect time for a beach holiday.

April

April is another great month to travel, with sunny, warm days. During the end of the month there is an increased risk of rain.

May

Temperatures in May remain warm with long periods of sunshine, but with the start of the South West Monsoon season rains and storms are likely. The unsettled weather, means there is lower visibility, so diving and snorkelling isn't as good as previous months.

June

During June, temperatures remain warm with sunny days. With the chances of rain and storms increasing it gives guests a perfect excuse to explore the islands' spas and facilities.

July

The South West Monsoon season continues into July, meaning rains are probable despite the warm sunny days.

August

Weather remains the same in August, and the lower prices and attractive offers make it a great time to visit.

September

Weather remains the same in September, and the lower prices and attractive offers make it a great time to visit.

October

As with preceding months, warm temperatures and sunshine are balanced with increased rain showers and storms. During October is a great time to spot whale sharks and manta rays as they come to feed on the increased plankton in the Indian Ocean.

November

As with preceding months, warm temperatures and sunshine are balanced with increased rain showers and storms. During November is a great time to spot whale sharks and manta rays.

December

Early December can present good value for money before the festive peak, as with previous months the weather can be unpredictable with increasing storms and rain showers.
