Location
An expedition not unlike the ones that intrepid explorers would have embarked on in times gone by, Great Plains Conservation offers a wonderful, rustic adventure deep in the Zimbabwean bush. A six day trip that comprises of exploring both Mana Pools National Park and the neighbouring concession, Sapi, which recently became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Due to the nature of the activities undertaken, children must be at least twelve years old.. The starting point of the trip is accessed via light aircraft.
Rooms
You will stay at three different camps during this trip, Acacia Camp, Starbeds and River Camp. Each camp consists of three double or twin tents, accommodating six guests in total. In order to provide a sense of being on a real exploration trip, the camp’s facilities are quite basic.
Facilities
While the layout and appearance of the accommodation may differ greatly, they all include beds, washing facilities and toilets and plenty of space for storing luggage. Main areas include dining/seating areas and kitchens.
Activities
The main focus of activities during the Greater Mana Expedition are canoeing and walking. A vehicle is available for guests who do not feel comfortable travelling by foot or by boat. There will be plenty of opportunity for game viewing and taking in some fantastic views. Animals regularly seen on this adventure include elephants, lions, hyenas, leopard and wild dog. Canoe trips to look for the wildlife of the wetlands are also something that should not be missed.
