A beautiful lodge that offers the chance to combine comfort and wildlife experiences in one of the best natural spaces in Africa
Location
Set deep within Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park, Anabezi Camp offers the kind of quiet, riverside wilderness that feels worlds away. Perched where the Zambezi River meets the Mushika floodplain, the camp sits beneath a canopy of Winterthorn trees, a haven for passing wildlife. You’ll love how peaceful it feels out here, with just the sounds of hippos, birdsong and the occasional elephant wandering past to remind you how close to nature you are.
Rooms
There are just 12 spacious tents (plus one family suite), each raised on timber decks and thoughtfully positioned for privacy and views. We love how the canvas and glass design opens right up to the river and plains, so you can sip your morning coffee as elephants stroll past or soak in the view from your private plunge pool. Inside, everything feels generous and comfortable, from the king-sized beds to the indoor and outdoor showers.
Amenities
The main lodge is relaxed and open, with lounge areas and dining spaces that look out over the river. Guests love the small touches - a quiet spot to read, a dip in the pool between game drives, or a drink at sunset with hippos grunting in the distance. The wine cellar is a nice touch for those after something special, and service is warm and thoughtful throughout.
Activities
You’ll head out on game drives, canoe safaris, walking safaris and river cruises, all guided by a superb team. There’s also catch-and-release fishing for tiger fish, and birdwatchers will be in heaven with over 500 species recorded in the area. It’s a beautifully flexible safari, where each day can be shaped to your pace and interests.
Sustainability
Anabezi is deeply committed to conservation and community well-being, and your stay directly supports impactful local initiatives. Through the Zambezi Wildlife Trust, the lodge has funded essential infrastructure, like teacher housing, water towers, and solar-powered laundry stations. They also back Conservation Lower Zambezi, including Zambia’s only all-female anti-poaching unit, plus a 24‑hour scout force, K‑9 teams, marine patrols, intelligence and aerial surveillance.
