Set in an area of pristine wilderness, Kaingu Safari Lodge offers a magnificent safari experience in the heart of the African bush.
Location
Just across from the eastern edge of Kafue National Park, sitting quietly on the banks of the Kafue River, KaingU Safari Lodge is wonderfully remote. This is a place for those who want to truly switch off and reconnect with nature, in a setting that feels both wild and welcoming.
Rooms
You’ll stay in one of just six open-fronted Meru-style tents or the larger family house, all tucked among trees and raised slightly for a better view of the river. Each has its own en-suite bathroom, and there are thoughtful details throughout - from locally sourced timber to al fresco showers and, in the honeymoon tent, a private outdoor bath.
Amenities
The heart of the lodge is the thatched main area, where guests gather for meals, morning coffee, or sunset drinks out on the timber deck. There’s a small gift shop, solar-powered lighting, and Wi-Fi if you want it. Evenings are for storytelling around the fire, with the sound of hippos in the background.
Activities
Days at KaingU are wonderfully varied. You can head out on game drives, guided walks, or peaceful boat cruises along the river. For something slower, there’s canoeing, birdwatching, or simply sitting with binoculars and a cup of tea. We love how hands-on and flexible it feels, especially for families, with things like tracking, cooking over coals, and creative bushcraft activities for kids.
Sustainability
KaingU is deeply rooted in sustainability, both environmental and social. It’s fully solar-powered, carefully designed to have minimal impact, and run by passionate owners who live onsite. A portion of every stay goes directly to community and conservation projects through their KaingU Trust Fund, supporting local schools, clinics, and environmental protection.
