Hunters Country House

Hunter's Country House is set in extensive gardens on a private estate between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, on South Africa's Garden Route. Hunters Country House is particularly well set up for a comfortable and luxurious family holiday. A member of the prestigious Relais and Chateaux Association. It is internationally acclaimed for its service excellence, superb cuisine and beautiful gardens, but remains a family country house bought in 1980 by Craig and Jill Hunter. Originally it was a small farm called Pear Tree.

The 23 luxurious suites at Hunters Country House, all individually designed and decorated with its own distinctive atmosphere - certain suites have their own splash pools. The individual thatched cottage suites are plush and peaceful, decorated in a pale green and oyster palette, accented with a romantic sparkle of crystal trimmed canopies and dainty chandeliers. All suites have a privately positioned patio and garden for tranquil relaxation, reflection and reconnecting. Outside is a large unheated pool set in lush gardens with shaded sun loungers.

There are lots of activities to do, both on the lodge's estate and in the nearby area around Plettenberg Bay. where it is possible to sail, surf and boat trip or cruises aboard a catamaran in the lagoon. Especially in summer, in some areas, you can spot whales, dolphin and seals. Other activities in the area include treetop canopy tour, bungee jumping, sky and shark cage diving. Within the lush gardens, the lodge's team can arrange romantic picnics, whilst there's also enough space – including forests and a lake or two – to simply ramble for a few hours.
