Mala Mala Game Reserve is the Safari Industry’s blueprint to the luxury photographic safari. In existence since 1927, this massive thriving tract of land produces the most exciting wildlife experience this side of the equator. Mala Mala Game Reserve is the largest private Big Five game reserve in South Africa. You can reach Mala Mala daily by a one-hour flight directly or by road in 5 ½ hours from Joburg, South Africa. Mala Mala Game Reserve lies strategically sandwiched between the unfenced borders of the Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sand Reserve. This well preserved wilderness is a “honey-pot” to the most sought-after wildlife species, as well as a host of smaller creatures. Mala Mala is part of a conservation gene pool that covers 5.5 million acres of land in the heart of the South African Lowveld.

Accommodation comprises of eight luxury suites, ten luxury rooms and one single room. Pathways wind their way along the perimeter of the camp to reveal individual ochre colored units tucked into the greenery which flanks the Sand River. Massive trees and rolling green lawns are filled with birdsong, with the occasional antelope or elephant which seeks the succulence of greenery. The camp is unfenced – an oasis in the middle of the bushveld. The impressive lounge, air-conditioned dining room and library, historic bar, large filtered infinity pool, well-appointed safari boutique and small fitness facility.

The reserve supports a variety of habitat types; dense riverine forest, acacia-combretum bushveld, open grassland and rocky outcrops, each sustaining different plant and animal species. Game drive itineraries are not set in stone, but they try to maximise time in the comfortable hours of the day by morning and afternoon game drives or bush walks.
