Odzala Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Safari

Your journey begins with a private flight from Brazzaville to Mboko airstrip in Odzala-Kokoua National Park. Departing at 1 pm (on Mondays or Thursdays), the flight takes approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival, the Kamba team will welcome you and guide you on a 2–3-hour safari drive through the park's stunning savanna and rainforest. You'll arrive at your home for the next three nights, Ngaga Lodge, where you can settle in and enjoy the surroundings. This evening, gather around the fire for a briefing about gorilla tracking to prepare for your adventure ahead.

On day 2 you'll set out on your first gorilla trek in the dense forests around Ngaga Lodge. Led by expert trackers, you'll spend the morning navigating the forest trails in search of Western Lowland Gorillas, an experience that promises close-up encounters with these fascinating primates. The trek can take around 2-4 hours, depending on the gorillas' location, and is a truly rewarding adventure. In the afternoon, unwind at the lodge, or opt for a guided walk through the surrounding rainforest to discover the region's other wildlife. Meals and drinks are included at the lodge.

Begin your day with a second gorilla trek, delving deeper into the rainforest as you observe the gorillas in their natural habitat. This opportunity allows you to witness their daily routines and interactions, making it an exceptional wildlife experience. After lunch, take a guided forest walk to explore the flora and fauna or participate in a cultural visit to a nearby village (available on request) to learn more about local traditions. The evening ends with a spectacular sundowner, enjoying the beauty of the forest as day turns to night.

After breakfast, enjoy a final walk through Ngaga's untouched rainforest before your journey to Mboko Lodge, approximately a 2-hour drive. Arriving at Mboko, you'll settle in and have lunch before embarking on a kayaking adventure down the tranquil Lekoli River. As you drift along, keep an eye out for playful monkeys, forest elephants, buffalo, and vibrant birds along the riverbanks. The journey continues on foot, leading you to the picturesque Lango Bai just in time for a sundowner. You'll spend the next two nights at Lango Lodge, with guided activities, meals, and drinks included.

Today is all about exploring the pristine wilderness of Lango Lodge. You'll follow the trails of elephants on foot through streams, forests, and open baïs, submerging yourself in this fascinating landscape. Traverse the baï and Lekoli River while spotting green pigeons, forest buffalo, and, if lucky, a bongo or a forest elephant. The sounds of chimps’ echo in the distance as you wade through the water, discovering Lango’s mystical forests. Your guide will enrich your experience by sharing insights into the diverse flora and fauna of this delicate ecosystem, making today an unforgettable adventure.

Start your day with an early morning walking safari as the sun rises, followed by a hearty breakfast. Afterward, you'll leave Lango Lodge, crossing the wetlands via a raised wooden walkway before a scenic game drive transfer to Mboko Lodge, nestled where the forest meets the savanna. After lunch, choose between an invigorating forest walk or a leisurely afternoon relaxing on the river deck. As the day winds down, embark on a late afternoon river cruise, navigating the winding waterways that weave through the savannas. Spend the next 2 nights at Mboko Lodge, with guided activities, meals, and drinks included.

Today, you will stay at Mboko Lodge for the next two nights, where adventure meets tranquillity. Enjoy a day filled with exploration alongside your guide, discovering the stunning riverbanks and forests of Odzala-Kokoua National Park. Look for vibrant birdlife, forest elephants, and the elusive bongo antelope as you navigate this rich landscape.

Your adventure culminates with a scenic drive to Mboko airstrip, where Kamba's private plane will be waiting for your return flight to Brazzaville.
