Desert Breeze Lodge Flyover

Desert Breeze

Elegant bedrooms overlooking rolling red sand dunes

A quirky escape from Swakopmund's more traditionally styled properties

Uniquely positioned at the very edge of Swakopmund for stunning desert views

Tucked away on the southern edge of Swakopmund, at the very limit of the town, Desert Breeze is an unusual departure from the traditional style that regular visitors come to expect from the town. Large, colourful rooms, views of wide-open spaces and the quiet location make this a firm favourite with Far & Wild.

There are 12 bedrooms here, located in individual chalets which are painted in a variety of vibrant colours and well-spread from one another to offer a feeling of privacy. The properties are raised up from the desert floor and offer stunning panoramic views out across the rolling coastal dunes. Indeed, it is one of the few properties in the area with views – a feature which makes it a very popular choice. Inside the rooms are very comfortable, with spacious bedroom areas, en-suite bathrooms and internal sitting areas, complete with a fireplace – a welcome addition on cold coastal nights, which Swakopmund has even in summer. The main part of the lodge houses the reception area and breakfast room, with a choice of continental and cooked options available daily. Service is limited to breakfast, although staff are on hand until the early evening and can help guests book restaurants or provide advice to those looking to plan days out.

The beach and restaurant areas are a 5-minute drive from the property, so within easy walking distance during the day and a short drive or taxi ride at night. Adequate parking is provided at the property and it really is a lovely spot to spend a few days relaxing during a busy trip through Namibia.
