A contemporary lodge in the heart of Damaraland's beautiful deserts
A beautiful oasis set next to one of Namibia's most important rhino conservation areas
Nestled on the desert plains of Damaraland, just past the tiny outpost of Palmwag, the eponymous Palmwag Lodge is an oasis of tranquillity and the perfect spot from which to explore the area. Located next to the wildlife haven of the Palmwag Concession, there is plenty to keep guests occupied when staying here.
The 29-bedroom lodge is found a short drive from the main road, surrounded by towering palm trees with a sparkling swimming pool at the centre. Visitors are able to choose between chalets, with canvas walls and thatched rooves or traditional all-canvas safari tents for an added rustic feeling. All of the rooms are en-suite, with either twin or double beds, plenty of storage space and mains electricity. Shaded verandas are found at the front of each room and are the perfect spot for relaxing and taking in the afternoon sunshine. The main dining room is indoors, with guests able to choose from seasonally inspired menus with a focus on using locally grown and sourced produce. As well as the swimming pool there are lush lawns and an outdoor bar area, which is the ideal place to enjoy traditional afternoon sundowner drinks.
The lodge operates a number of activities in the adjacent Palmwag Concession, including scenic game drives, full day wildlife explorations with a focus on seeing desert rhino, morning walks and even under canvas sleep outs for those seeking a true African experience.
