Like so many people you are probably thinking that the Maldives is all soft white sand and gentle clear waters. Well, although that is certainly on offer at many of the resorts, there are a few that also offer world class surfing and we can arrange holidays to all of them for you.
Where to surf in the Maldives
What could be better than a morning of surfing followed by a relaxing spa treatment, some yoga or simply just enjoying a relaxing time.
There are a few islands that offer surfing like Kandooma, Six Senses Lamu, Niyama Private Islands, Ayada Maldives, Shangri La and Hudhuranfushi. We can book all these Island resorts for you.
Featured Resort - Hudhuranfushi
Hudhuranfushi is perfect for avid surfers as this Island limits the amount of boarders at any one time. You won't be sharing the seas with hordes of other surfers like many other destinations around the world. You'll need to book their special surf package which registers you to use the waves, surf guides and the special Surf Dhoni boat to take you to the waves away from the island.
My Top Tip: I suggest you enquire about this holiday as soon as possible as places are restricted.
Check out these Waves
Lohi’s surf break: An exciting left-hander that offers consistent performance. This is at the island and can be watched from the bar of the same name - Lohis Bar - which now offers surfers and their families breakfast and lunch!!
Jailbreaks: A classic right-hander.
Honkey's: Great fun left-hander with a mellow takeoff and a big bend. Good but not all that consistent.
Sultans: One of the most user-friendly waves with long workable walls, great barrel opportunities and several take off regions. Very consistent!
Ninjas: Another a fun right-hander and perfect for lower level surfers.
Cokes (colas): Is a right-hander which breaks 3-10ft and is well protected from the southerly winds. Cokes' surf break will test your tube-riding ability. This wave has been well photographed and is the hollowest in the North Male atoll.
Chickens: This left-hander is known as one of the fastest waves in the North Male atoll. It holds a swell size from 3ft to well over 10ft and provides rides up to 500m long.
