Estancia Vik

Luxurious ranch a short distance inland from Jose Ignacio

Enjoy rural life at this beautiful estancia

Located inland from the coastal town of José Ignacio on Uruguay's Atlantic coast, Estancia Vik is a luxurious ranch set atop a hill, surrounded by 4,000 acres of serene pampas where horses and cattle graze freely.

This romantic and traditional estancia embodies Spanish-style charm with its white adobe walls, red tin roofs, and covered walkways that connect multiple outdoor courtyards and picturesque gardens.

The expansive patios are perfect for relaxation, featuring outdoor seating areas, sculptural installations, shaded respites, and a large organic herb garden. The hotel is divided into wings, each housing six luxurious suites. These suites are uniquely designed, boasting full bathrooms with separate bathtubs and rain showers. Each suite is also adorned with original artwork by prominent contemporary Uruguayan artists, adding a touch of individuality to every room.

On the southern side of the estancia lies a stunning 20-metre pool made of Absolute Nero stone, with a floor illuminated by fiber optic lights arranged in the pattern of the southern constellations, echoing a similar concept found at its sister property, Playa Vik. Guests can also enjoy an excellent indoor sauna, gym, and spa facilities.

A culinary highlight at Estancia Vik is the impressive ‘parilla,’ where massive steaks are expertly grilled over a fire pit. Much of the meat is sourced from the estancia itself and paired with fresh produce from the kitchen garden.

Estancia Vik offers exceptional horseback riding on their Criollo or Quarter horses, included with your stay, along with biking, kayaking on the lagoon, tennis, and a driving range. The estancia provides superb hospitality, offering an immersive experience in the heart of rural Uruguay.
