A month by month guide of when to visit Mexico
Mexico welcomes visitors throughout the year, offering diverse experiences depending on the season.
Although it is a year-round destination, you should consider the regional variations in weather when planning your visit.
The dry season is from December to April and this is a wonderful time to visit coastal areas and participate in water sports.
The rainy season in Mexico typically occurs between May and the end of October. During this time, mornings are usually pleasant and ideal for outdoor activities. However, be prepared for heavy rainfalls in the afternoons, which can impact outdoor plans. If you don't mind the rain and wish to experience Mexico's natural beauty at its peak, visiting between June and September is ideal. This period is the hottest and wettest, and it's a great time for eco-adventures, exploring natural reserves, and witnessing Mexico's diverse wildlife.
Late September and October mark the hurricane season along the Gulf of Mexico and the south/central Pacific Coast. While hurricanes are relatively rare, it's important to stay informed about weather updates and be prepared for possible disruptions, especially in coastal areas.
From November to February, the inland northern regions can become particularly chilly, with temperatures dropping to freezing levels. This period is perfect for exploring picturesque colonial cities, enjoying cozy evenings by the fire, and even partaking in winter sports in some areas.
