As you might see from its name, Maison Perumal is a hotel which encapsulates the blend of French and South Indian culture which really defines Pondicherry. This is a 18th century family mansion which has been renovated into a charming boutique hotel, reflecting the colonial ambience of this seaside town.
The hotel features a lot of local artists in a rotating gallery space. It’s a relaxed and informal place where you can go shopping with the chef, and learn some haggling skills as well as traditional Indian cooking. Maison Perumal is situated in the Tamil quarter of Pondicherry and is a good base for exploring the town and nearby Auroville.
