The grandest mansion in El Fuerte
Located in the town of El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Posada del Hidalgo stands as a colonial mansion, steeped in history and elegance.
Constructed in 1890 by a prosperous and influential mayor, this architectural gem required five years of meticulous construction, costing a staggering 1 million gold pesos, thus earning the distinction of being the grandest mansion in El Fuerte. Pillared arches gracefully surround the central courtyards adorned with flourishing flora and central fountains, with the Casa Vieja section rumoured to be the original site of "El Zorro's" residence.
The 68 rooms offer a choice of three styles, each exuding its unique charm. Some feature lofty ceilings adorned with 240 amapa wood beams and two-story balconies, representing the original bedrooms of the mansion. Alternatively, the newer style rooms provide picturesque views of the spacious garden, while Casa Vieja presents 12 charming rooms enveloping a tropical haven equipped with modern amenities and colonial design.
Dining at Don Diego's restaurant, named in homage to El Zorro's true identity, offers a delightful experience with views of the garden or an option to savour the culinary delights under the palapa by the hotel pool. Specialising in local delicacies such as langoustines, the restaurant also features an array of international and fusion dishes. The bar complements the experience, serving a selection of cocktails and beers, providing the perfect retreat to unwind after a day exploring the wonders of the local area.
