Thorntree River Lodge Bedroom Exterior

Thorntree River Lodge

A luxurious lodge on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River.

Luxury and Victoria Falls

Understated luxury and a tranquil atmosphere to create a sense of peace on the banks of the Zambezi

Found on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, a 30-minute drive upstream from the iconic Victoria Falls, Thorntree River Lodge is one of the most contemporary and luxurious lodges in the region, making it the perfect retreat after a busy safari through Zambia or neighbouring Botswana.

There are 12 rooms in total here, including 2 two-bedroom family suites with the bedrooms connected via a raised walkway. All of the rooms are beautifully designed with stunning views out across the river and the high canvas roofs help to keep them cool, even in the heat of summer. Private plunge pools are found on the decks which make for lovely spots to relax in the afternoons and the decks also make for a great spot for massage treatments or private dinners. The contemporary feel runs through in to the main area, which has plenty of comfortable sofas to relax on, a lovely swimming pool and sunken firepit area where guests congregate in the evenings to tell tales of their day exploring the area. The outstanding cuisine is complemented by a superb wine list and there is a small gym to work off the excesses of the superb food! A small spa offers a range of treatments for guests looking to indulge themselves.

A range of activities can be enjoyed as part of your stay at the lodge, including visits to the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, with trips across to Zimbabwe available on request. They also offer sunset river cruises, canoeing and fishing trips, as well as visits to a local village and the excellent David Livingstone Museum found in nearby Livingstone town.
