Lanzerac Hotel & Spa

Tucked away amidst the vineyards of its own winery on the outskirts of the vibrant university town of Stellenbosch, Lanzerac Hotel & Spa is a superb base for visitors who like their hotels to come with plenty of facilities and space where they can relax and take in the glorious surroundings.

At 53 rooms it is slightly larger than our usual winelands offering, but it is spread over a huge footprint so it doesn’t feel overly large and there is plenty of space to escape to if you do feel overrun by other guests. The whole estate has a very traditional feel to it, with gabled Cape Dutch buildings, manicured lawns and impeccable vineyards, with this feeling extending to the rooms. Elegantly designed and laid out with lots of dark woods, ornate rugs and beautiful chandeliers, they are amongst the most traditional rooms in the winelands and incredibly comfortable. All the amenities guests need are provided and the en-suite bathrooms are equally well equipped. Foodies will revel in being able to enjoy one of four eateries across the estate, with options ranging from a relaxed deli to fine dining, all accompanied by the pick of the estate’s best wines which are its pride and joy. One of the best features of Lanzerac is its outstanding spa, consistently rated amongst the best in South Africa and a reason to stay there by itself. A range of treatments, both individual and couples, are offered and many guests choose to spend at least a day simply sitting back and being pampered.

Guests are invited to enjoy wine tastings on the estate and can also head out, either on their own or with a guide to enjoy some of the many wineries that are found around Stellenbosch and the surrounding area. The town itself is full of life, especially during the university term time and is a great spot to explore, admire historic buildings and dine in its outstanding restaurants.
