Hippo Hollow Country Estate

Hippo Hollow Country Estate is named after the onsite hippo pool on the Sabie River. It's in a perfect position to enjoy safari experiences and explore the Panorama Route. Or even use it as an extension to taking a few nights in one of the many private reserves around Sabi Sands and Timbavati, and of course the Greater Kruger National Park.

Accommodation includes standard rooms, garden chalets and the delightful river chalets, some of which are adjoining so ideal for families. There is a main restaurant as well as the chance to eat an al fresco Bridge Dinner overlooking the Sabi River. For a special evening enjoy the Shangaan River Club which is one of the finest traditional restaurants in Hazyview. The local community has got together with Hippo Hollow to put on an evening of traditional entertainment, including an African banquet served from cast-iron pots, all of this while being entertained by beating drums, singing and dancing (you will even be able to join in if you want). There are lots of excursions on offer including visits to Elephant Whispers, the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, the Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre, and the Jane Goodall Institute - Chimpanzee Eden. You can also explore the Kruger National Park, take a Pilgrims Rest Gold Tour, or check out the Blyde River Canyon with it's many natural wonders, such as the Three Rondavels and Bourke's Luck Potholes. Adrenaline junkies will find no shortage of heart-stopping action in the area with activities ranging from the 68 metre free-fall of the bridge swing over Graskop Falls, to the aerial cable trails offered by Skyway Trails.
