A maximum of 10 guests are accommodated here at a time, with 5 sprawling suites spaced well away from one another around the main lodge area. Each of the suites has its own private decking area, complete with star beds, so guests can sleep outside if they are so inclined. The main area is a vast, open-plan area, with a lounge area complete with open fireplace, dining and bar area, with plenty of private spaces to hide away and enjoy a good book. The large decking area leads out to a sparkling swimming pool which is a great spot to relax in the afternoons and take in the Kalahari sunshine. A small spa offers a diverse range of treatments, perfect for guests looking to be pampered after long days exploring the desert. The staff here are wonderful with attentive but discrete service, the food is outstanding and the wine list amongst the best that any lodge in South Africa has to offer.

Tarkuni offers a wonderful range of activities, including game drives through the unique Kalahari ecosystem, guided walks and horseriding safaris, as well as dedicated activities for younger children. Unique species seen here include black-maned Kalahari lion and pangolin – the latter being one of the most secretive animals of the African bush.
