Phinda Vlei Lodge

Tucked away in the heart of the Phinda Reserve’s unique and beautiful sand forest biome, Vlei Lodge is a glorious spot to spend a few days on safari. There are just 6 suites at Vlei Lodge, with only adults allowed, meaning there is always a very tranquil and laid back feel to life here, making the lodge the ideal safari spot for anyone looking to unwind after a long trip through South Africa. The suites are exquisitely designed, with outdoor plunge pools and decking areas where guests can relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity that the sand forest provides. Inside the rooms are wonderfully spacious and comfortable, with lots of dark woods and deep, comfortable furnishings. Fully stocked minibars mean guests can relax with drinks without having to go to the main area of the lodge, although it is just a few steps away if they do. En-suite bathrooms come with plenty of space and all the amenities one could wish for, with special baths drawn on request for a romantic turndown. The main area continues the theme of dark wood and comfortable soft furnishings, with a lovely lounge, complete with bar at one end being one of the most popular spot in the lodge and a great spot to relax. In the dining room guests can enjoy the delicious cuisine for which the lodge is so popular, with a number of outdoor dining areas found close to the lodge and used to surprise and delight guests.

The lodge offers traditional morning and afternoon game drives in the company of highly experienced guides as well as guided walks, which are especially wonderful in the sand forest. Guests with specific interests will be delighted with Phinda’s range of additional activities which includes sleepouts in the bush, elephant and rhino conservation safaris, marine boat safaris and, in season, trips to see turtles nesting on the nearby beaches of Maputland.
