Tucked away in the Western Sabi Sands, famous for its Leopard viewing
Staying at Savanna you will want for nothing, every day brings new and exciting surprises.
This description was written by South Africa Specialist Yvonne who has stayed here several times.
I would like to introduce you to the fantastic Savanna Private Game Reserve. I don't know of anyone who goes to Savanna and doesn't 'fall in love' with the experience.
An exclusive 5* Luxury lodge Savanna is in the internationally famous Sabi Sands. The lodge lies in an area where 'Big 5' sightings are so frequent, it is not unusual to see leopard, lion, rhino, elephant and buffalo in a single game drive. Specially designed game viewing vehicles and highly trained guides and trackers ensure that you will have the most rewarding viewing and close and intimate encounters with a large variety of wildlife.
There is a choice of 3 different types of suites, the beds ensure a good nights sleep and you have a bath as well as indoor and outdoor showers, a mini bar is included and has 'bubbles', wine, beer, and soft drinks, there are also snacks should you not have already had enough of the delicious food on offer. After the recent renovations and upgrades all of the suites now have plunge pools overlooking the water holes and vast savanna.
Gourmet dining is an essential part the Savanna safari experience. Breakfasts offer full English plus fresh fruits, yogurts, pastries, and a 'Savanna special of the day'. An varied lunch buffet offers a large variety of salads, hot meat and vegetable dishes and cheeses.
Evening meals take place in various locations in and around camp, and candle-lit dinners are served on the deck of the main lodge. On balmy nights, sumptuous barbecues are in the open-air 'boma' or in a candle-lit clearing in the bush. Guests are often treated to the stirring voices of a local choir who entertain during dinner. All of these and more surprise locations are complemented by award winning wines, imported and local, from Savanna's well-stocked wine cellar.
The twice daily game drives are done in Land Rovers that have been specially modified for guests' comfort and safety with bucket seats separated by large storage boxes. In order to maximise comfort and photographic opportunities, there are never more than two people in a row unless otherwise requested. In addition, there are only ever two vehicles at a sighting, except with very relaxed animals in open terrain, when three vehicles may be allowed.
