On the Southern tip of São Tomé, Praia Inhame Eco Lodge can be reached by car in about 1 hour 40 mins from São Tomé Airport. Near the fishing village of Porto Alegre, this is a genuine eco-lodge, thought of as paradise on earth by many travellers. Surrounded by luxuriant vegetation on a tropical island with year-round warm temperatures, there are only two climatic seasons here. The drought that occurs between the months of June to August and is locally known as gravana, and the rainy season during the remaining months. The mountainous terrain also provides several micro-climates.
The lodge has bungalows of various types with private bathrooms suitable for both couples or families. At the restaurant and bar you can enjoy the best delicacies, which are all created using local produce. During the day the lodge offers a mangrove trip in a dugout canoe, a walk up the hill to the old Soviet wireless station, seasonal turtle watching, and a day trip to Rolas. You can also try surfing lessons, scuba diving, mountain biking, hiking in the woods (guided), fishing, beach swimming with a lifeguard, and boat trips. Surrounded by nature in the heart of the archipelago, this is a wonderful place to get away from it all, and enjoy a slice of your very own tropical paradise without the crowds.
