Sossusvlei Lodge

Undoubtedly the best-located of the lodges in the area, Sossusvlei Lodge is found directly opposite the park gate and road which leads down to the famous dunes, meaning guests staying here are always amongst the first on the road and at the dunes each morning, a huge bonus and a big reason for the enduring popularity of the lodge.

With 44 rooms, this is a modestly sized lodge, with Superior and Family Rooms offered, as well as a small number of Junior Suites, which come with their own plunge pools, making this one of the few lodges in the area to offer such a facility. Inside the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with neutral colour schemes to fit in with the surroundings. They all have small sitting areas and whichever room you choose you will be assured of stunning views out across the surrounding desert. There is a lovely restaurant here, spacious terrace which is perfect for lunches and even a German style beer garden, a very popular spot and a nod to Namibia’s colonial past. The sparkling swimming pool has been designed to resemble the constellation of the Southern Cross, which sits proudly above the lodge in the crystal-clear desert night skies.

Of course, the enduring attraction of coming to stay here is the chance to visit the famous dunes at Sossusvlei, just a short drive from the lodge, but the lodge also offers nature walks, visits to the Sesriem Canyon, off road buggy trails and even archery to help fill up your days staying here. This is a great lodge and one we are always very happy to recommend.
