Elegant Desert Lodge

From its secluded location, just 37kms from the Sesriem gate that leads to the towering red sand dunes of Sossusvlei, Elegant Desert Lodge is ideally located for getting to the dunes, as well as enjoy the beautiful deserts form which this part of Namibia is renowned.

The 29 bedrooms are found in their own stone and thatch chalets, which are well spread out through the gardens of the lodge. Inside they are simple, but very comfortable, with flagstone floors that help keep the rooms cool even in the height of summer. Of these 4 are two-bedroom family units, with plenty of space to relax on the decks that are found in front of each room. All rooms are air-conditioned for guests’ comfort and the en-suite bathrooms come with all of the amenities one could need. Inside the main area of the lodge there is a cosy lounge area with a lovely open fireplace, bar and dining area where delicious, seasonally inspired meals are served by the charming team of staff. Outside there is a lush garden, sparkling swimming pool and covered patio where guests can enjoy sundowner drinks and even alfresco dinners if the weather allows. The views across the desert are truly breathtaking and a huge attraction for this gem of a desert property.

Guests staying here can visit Sossusvlei of their own accord or join the lodge’s guides on a half-day trip which includes a side-trip to the Sesriem Canyon after visiting the dunes. There are a number of hiking trails on the property as well, ideal for those looking to stretch their legs and spot a variety of desert wildlife including springbok, kudu and oryx.
