andBeyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge

Crouched at the foot of rugged hillsides and overlooking the stark plains of the Namib Desert, andBeyond’s Sossusvlei Desert Lodge re-opened in November 2019 with a new design that has helped cement its place as one of the finest lodges on the whole continent.

There are 11 beautifully designed suites at the property, including a two-bedroom Star Dune Suite, which is ideal for families or small groups travelling together thanks to its private lounge and dining area. All of the rooms are incredibly spacious, with stacking doors that open out on to a deck with a large plunge pool, covered sitting area and breathtaking views out to the desert. With minibars, coffee stations, indoor sitting areas and all the amenities you could wish for the rooms are as well equipped as any in the country. In-room fireplaces are perfect for cold winter nights, whilst the outdoor showers are a very popular feature with guests. The main part of the lodge is an amazing space, with a large open-plan lounge area, dining room and bar which leads out to a sprawling decking area. There is a swimming pool tucked away beneath the level of the main lodge where drinks will be served as guests relax during the afternoon. With a huge number of inspiring locations for meals, it is little wonder that food is a huge part of life at the lodge, with fresh, seasonal ingredients used to create simply amazing menus. A walk-in wine cellar is stocked with a huge selection of international wines and is one of the most striking features of the lodge.

Guests staying here have access to some of the finest guides and most amazing landscapes that Namibia has to offer, with a daily programme that includes; dune and desert adventures, visits to Sossusvlei and the Sesriem Canyon, e-bike trips, sundowner drinks drives, guided walks and star gazing in the on-site observatory with the resident astronomer. For an additional fee they can also arrange dawn hot air balloon rides over the desert which are an amazing way to start the morning.
