Access is limited to flying in, with just one operator – Skeleton Coast Flying Safaris – able to take you in to the deserts and allow you to explore.
Their trips are all flying safaris, with one of the renowned Schoeman Brothers, the owners of the operation, acting as your pilot, guide, chef and camp host for your time in the deserts. There are four separate itineraries on offer (please speak to your Namibia specialist about the options available) all of which will give you a wonderfully diverse experience. They operate a number of their own camps, Kuidas, Leylandsdrift and Kunene, in the more remote areas, all of which are simple yet comfortable affairs, ideally located for exploring this extraordinary part of Namibia.
A visit to this stunning corner of the country is a chance to see shipwrecks and whale skeletons dotted along the coastline, explore the seemingly endless desert sands in 4x4 vehicles and revel in the knowledge that you are one of just a handful of travellers who will see these sights in any given year.
