Ichingo Chobe River Lodge

A gorgeous little lodge on a tiny island in the heart of the Chobe River

Boasting amazing river views and shaded by towering trees, this is an idyllic base for exploring the region.

Classically styled and in an impossibly gorgeous location, Ichingo Chobe River Lodge is the perfect addition to any Caprivi Strip safari

Tucked away on Impalila Island, a tiny island on the eastern end of the Chobe River as it joins the mighty Zambezi, Ichingo Chobe River Lodge is the perfect spot to round off a visit to Namibia’s Caprivi Strip or to twin with a visit to Victoria Falls.

The 8 safari style tents, including a larger family tent with bunk bed rooms for children, are shaded by groves of trees and look directly out on to the Chobe River. Inside they are simply yet comfortably furnished with indoor sitting areas, spacious en-suite bathrooms and small wooden decking areas at the front where guests can sit and enjoy the afternoon sunshine. The main area of the lodge is raised up on stilts to allow a cooling breeze to flow through it and consists of a lounge and bar area, as well as a cozy dining room. Another deck overlooks the Chobe and wooden steps lead guests down to the sandy firepit area where they set up evening drinks and often serve dinner if the weather allows. A sparkling swimming pool sits to one side of the main area and is a popular spot for guests to relax in the afternoons with a cool drink and a good book. The food at Ichingo is excellent, with menus focusing on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to create a culinary delight for the senses.

The lodge offers a range of activities including boat trips on the Chobe River, fishing trips, birding safaris and dedicated photography trips in their specially adapted boats. They also have access to a traditional Caprivian village where you can get an insight in to the unique way of life of the local people.
