Hotel Escondidinho is located in the Bairro do Museu in the middle of Ilha de Mozambique. It is a restored, old colonial house, that features high ceilings, large windows and a swimming pool in the internal garden. It is ideally located on a quiet street in the middle of the island.
The 10 rooms provide a mixture of facilities: most are air-conditioned, but those that are not have ceiling fans, and seven of the rooms include en-suite bathrooms while the others have an external but private bathroom. Breakfast is included with the room and there is a good restaurant in the hotel that offers a fusion of French, African and Asian cuisine.
The Ilha de Mozambique is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the country’s fastest growing tourist destinations. Due to Hotel Escondidinho’s central location, it is easy to walk to all the historic attractions such as the museum, churches and mosques. A guided tour of the on foot is highly recommended to soak up the island’s fascinating history. The hotel can also arrange sunset dhow cruises and trips to the neighbouring islands and beaches.
